"a hybrid mix"

That could be, especially around Algonquin Park where a lot of dogs will be lost and mixes will be brought in and take off on their own. It's the dog personality that makes it more likely to attack people.

I forgot most of the details of wolf/shepard type mixing(CRS), but as a general rule... ~75% wolf makes a good companion, smaller but like a wolf-not a good pet. They are too independent. If it's mistreated, or kept by a moron, it will take off and never be seen again. 50% makes a very large, playful companioin and maybe pet. The animal acts like a lab, it's playful, protective, but it's so big when it playfully mouths folks, it draws blood. It's not for kids. If it's mistreated, not trained, it will become a large dangerous animal that will most likely shred it's owner. This particular mix does require the owner to be it's companion and play alot. Without that the dog is impossible to control. The folks I know with these, spend most of the day with them and sleep alongside them.

Lower wolf contents are what the bozos wanting the nasty dogs buy, or are sold, because they are large and extremely aggressive.

"Unfortunately stupidity isn't a crime."

Not keeping it under control ought to be. Vicious dogs roaming, or going on a rampage some day ought to get the owner some caged time out. Most animal attacks come from loosed dogs.

I forget the % but it was very wolf like, and had been treated very poorly. I was called by the owner's mother (sonny was in TDC for a 3 year stint) and she could not control or even go near the animal. The township's "animal control officer" - a retired cop - was afraid that the animal would be impossible to control with his stick, and his .22 wouldn't kill it.
So they called the Sheriff's Dept.
I can still see that wolf/dog. He knew what I was there for, and he wasn't happy about it.
To tame to be in the wild and to wild to be a pet...
That day went into the "negitive" column.
