Maybe I'm missing something but I can't imagine why anyone would let their 12-year old son stay overnight with an adult. What was the mother thinking? Maybe it's best not to know.

Well, in all honesty, I can see a parent having a kid stay with a trusted family friend who is a teacher, before I could possibly see a parent letting their son stay overnight with a cross dressing, makeup wearing 47 year old man, who says that sleeping in the same bed is, "beautiful"!
