I find it difficult to sit and read this type of spin. I lived on a ranch in central/southern California for my whole childhood until my mid twenties. I worked and watched my neighbors and the workers that were used and went to school with their kids. Here are my problems with the entry by the republican head in El Salvador:

"In case no one noticed, the current system does not work, which is why there are 12 million undocumented workers in the US."

The current system does not work because there is no real concerted effort to either stop, or return existing illegals. Here in Washington state, eastern Washington is overfilled with illegals from Mexico that are not being investigated or returned. We have documented proof that some have been jailed, recognized, and not grabbed and shipped. This is a liberal state and it uses these for votes. They will not be captured, they will be sent to the polls.

"12 million people will start paying taxes"

To the tune of minimum wages, that will not cover the additional hospital, education, and welfare draw, but will cause three things, a deficit to the welfare that will be requiring raised taxes, another excuse to raise the minimum wage because it was never designed to be a family supporting level, and because of the that raise, a higher price of products and services so the employer can cover the added expenses. Minimum wage was never designed to be entry level. It was to cover Christmas help like high school package wrappers.

"Workers will be paid minium wage, evening out the pay scale and giving more opportunity for US workers"

How is paying more minimum wage going to give an opportunity for the US worker? The employer only has so much money to pay for labor costs. If the employer is going to use low cost labor, then forced to pay for further services like their share of employment taxes, what is the advantage to the US worker? It will be an incentive to hire more minimum level employees just to get out from under taxes. So the idea is to raise the capabilities of the US worker by lowering the wage scale in a mass amount? A fine way to level it out, more poverty and a need to raise the minimum wage again.

"12 million more people will contribute to social security"

Like I mentioned before, at poverty level wages, it will not cover the bennies they will get. This is happening in California now. It is a major expense to the California budget and is a reason they are going broke. They don’t make enough to cover it.

"If you commit a crime you lose your status...bye bye and you go home"

They aren’t catching them now, what makes you think they will then just because they have broken a different law?

"If they do not have a job they cannot stay, this can be verified by social security and since they are documented workers we know who they are and they will have to return home"

I have to repeat the above: They aren’t catching them now, what make you think they will then just because they have broken a different law? And using social security won’t work because that isn’t working now.

"To renew your status after three years you will have to prove that you worked and paid taxes otherwise I am sure you will not get it renewed so where is the welfare in all of this?"

Many are now on welfare with no social security status. Maybe you can answer that question. Additionally, as soon as one of the female workers has a child, it goes on AFDC and they cannot send it back to Mexico as it is a natural born citizen. You gonna send mom back without the child?

"Most foreign workers are looking for a job not a handout and most would prefer to go back to their countries so why not give them the opportunity to work in jobs nobody wants and GO BACK, instead of being forced to stay in the US and adding to the problem."

I have no problem with this, as long as they remain documented. But, you said yourself, we have 12 million undocumented now. Why share the earnings with a government you don’t listen to anyway. The border is a revolving door, why pay for the free trip?

"Employers will only want to hire people who are ïn "the system" to avoid legal problems therefore it will force immigrants to sign up thus giving us much needed information about who they are and what they are doing in the US. 9.) Consider the cost of rounding everybody up and flying them home?"

Is this happening now? Is it in the best interest of the employer or the illegal to do this? Can’t both make more money the way it is now? Your perfect world considers everyone is honest. We have a system in effect now that is basically the same thing and it doesn't work.

This is really nothing more than cannon fodder. Each one of those statements put out by the Central American has more holes than a liberal press brief. Please understand that I can see the problem, but there is a system in place that is being brutalized by the illegal and the US. It needs fixing, not making it worse by throwing gasoline on the fire to put it out.

I, too, spent my entire life up until I was 32 years old, in Central California (San Joaquin Valley and the Central Coast.)

I never knew a White person, other than myself, who worked disbudding carnations at a nursery in Guadelupe. Many of my Hispanic and Philipino classmates in high school worked at the ice houses packing brocolli or picking lettuce, artichokes or strawberries. None of my White friends did.

There has been no effort to control our borders in my lifetime.

As I said before, I am pleased that the President is addressing the problem, albeit to the consternation of many here.
