I can ASSURE you, without knowing, that an integral part of this process is to secure the identification cards that resident foreigners carry. I'll bet their "swipable" into a number of interlaced data bases. Perhaps with some biometric authorization process.

Can it get worse than now? NO. You guys have been ragging for three years about the status quo. Well, that's now in play. So .. if you oppose this solution, you better have a better alternative than "Seal the Borders. Arrest and Deport the Illegals." That's no longer a valid opening ante in this game.

Nope --- I've said don't do a mass round-up but don't hand out legalization either. I can't imagine what Bush intends to do to those illegals who come over now and don't bother with his blue cards --- and don't think they won't ---- some just don't like filling out papers, some don't read and write at all and are not going to bother with the process, some aren't going to sit around and wait for the government to find them a job. They'll come here the old-fashioned way and they'll find employers who don't want to bother with the "job benefits" and wages that Bush mentioned. So does Bush now send the Homeland Security guys knocking down our doors looking for illegals who may or may not be there? Does he set up road blocks? The border is still 2000 miles and as we've all heard a million times --- it cannot possibly be closed --- and a fence would be too much work.

To me --- it would have been better to leave them illegal ---- go after those who should be easy --- those presenting stolen SS numbers and committing other crimes --- but a round up? That was never me.

I almost won't blame the illegals for bypassing this process --- and there are illegals who didn't run out and get the matricula card --- for some being undocumented sounds safer than being documented --- but I imagine that's even more true of those with something that would show up on a background check. Some illegals don't trust government --- they had good reason not to trust it as all where they're from.
