I don't think this is in the best interests of our nation. Unless Bush has a plan in place for who besides the taxpayers will pay for the health care and for the education of the children the guest workers bring over. Do background checks cover things like HIV and hepatitis and TB?

I think that Republicans might believe Bush cannot win --- and he desperately needs the votes he might gain from this --- even if Congress doesn't pass this, the illegals will turn out and vote for Bush anyhow. They know this will cost him some votes from American citizens but figure there could be enough of a gain from the Mexican citizens' votes to outweigh the losses.

Taxpayers pay for the HIV and TB regardless of whether the immigrants are paying into the system or not. It certainly is in our nation's interest to see that disease doesn't spread, and that human suffering is addressed.

The rest of your statements about voting was specious speculation and conjecture.
