Well, I don't know if Bush deserves all the blame for the liberal judges who rule by judicial fiat, bypassing both the constitution and the will of the People in the process...

But I didn't notice him taking the initiative to make a few common-sense Federal Judicial appointments over the Commiecrat fillibuster during the recent Congressional recess... did you?

Nor have I seen him do much to bust said fillibuster, what with the "new tone" and "kinder and gentler" and all that blather. Just bend over and grab the ankles, every time Tommy Daschle, Hillary or Teddy K. wander by.

I've been trying to defend our President against all of my liberal friends (and yes, I do have a few) assertions that he is a "dummy" and an "idiot" for these past 3 years or so...
but now I'm beginning to wonder if they might have been on to something.

GWB has been so brilliant in his forign policy and prosecution of the War on Terrorism - how can he turn around and be such a drooler on domestic issues?

I don't get it. I really don't.

He can't engage in overtly partisan political domestic squabbles while he is first and foremost tasked to be the CIC for ALL OF US. The American people gain solace in his fitness and temperament to send our kids into peril, protect us from the Bin Laden Traveling Boys Choir, and do the things he needs to do to keep we and ours alive - he can't be getting down into the slime with Daschole, no matter how many liberties those punks are taking with his vulnerability.

He's getting a 15%-20% chunk of the Democrat voting bloc to support him as CIC because of his measured demeanor. That's crucial ... their sons and daughters and family and friends are dying for all of us in Iraq, Afghanistan and all of us are vulnerable to the next attack. Bush provides a large measure of security to most Americans (who aren't mentally ill with hatred for him) so that we can go about our business, emerge from our 9/11 economic and psychological devestation, and rebuild our uniquely American community sense of hope and limitless future.

He's not going to do anything as contentious as appoint recess jurists to the Court of Appeals or force showdowns with Daschele and the soulless vampires of the Seante Democrat caucus. He's not going to do that while we're at War.

All the nitpicking here is absurd.

It's actually quite simple when you think about it. The military prosecuted the war, but on the home front, President Rove makes all the decisions.

That's what former Congressman and Mayor Ed Koch said in endorsing Bush for reelection. Koch said that he will still oppose Bush on ALL domestic matters, but he feels the foreign policy and terrorism war have been so successful that he must reward Bush with his NY vote. Koch also said that he expects to work hard for the 2008 Democrat presidential nominee. (He also said that he favors Joseph I. Lieberman for the 2004 nomination but discounts his CT neighbor's chances.)
