Chimpanzees are not monkeys. The editor should have caught that.

...has led them to discover that small children and babies are easily caught and a good source of protein, according to experts... ...meanwhile, here in civilization, scientist and Christopher Reeves (aka Superman) have discovered that small unborn children are easily caught and a good source of embryonic tissue and body parts for grownups to use...

Steve Irwin was just trying to keep his baby away from vicious monkeys while he was busy feeding the Crocs.

I always thought that chimps ate vegetation and fruit. Chimps will eat anything, including each other. They often hunt monkeys.

From The Times January 01, 2004 Chimpanzees struggling to survive amid the destruction of their forest habitat are snatching and killing human babies.
-------------------------
Chimpanzees have always been aggressive organized carnivore. Baboons are also meat-eaters.

...I always thought that chimps ate vegetation and fruit... ...and I never thought that humans would 'devour' their young either. What a world!

I think it's been postulated that this is how our hominoid ancestors emerged from a shrinking rainforest and began the process of evolution into the hominid species with which we're familiar today. Leave these chimps alone and they might well evolve into truly sapient beings.
