College was less expensive than the Catholic High schools we had been in.

When we made the decision to move a few years ago, one of the criteria for where we would go was schools. In this region there are very few private schools and most charter schools do not offer kindergarten.

She started kindergarten this year, more than 2 years after we chose this area partly based on the school district. We were getting to crunch time for enrollment, when we finally sold our house and were getting ready to enroll her in one of the few charter schools in lower Delaware that does offer kindeergarten - but it would entail nearly an hour drive each way and it was only half day school.

Yes she is in public school, but in a district that, at least to me, appeared to about the best on the Delmarva Peninsula. Because there are so few private, Catholic or Christian schools - they can pretty much demand whatever they wish in the way of tuition and without me working - totally out of the picture no matter what we cut back on, and there really is not enough for us to cut out of the budget to have covered the cost.
