The timing is interesting to me. I've read several references in recent days to the claim by AQ that Bin Laden will not release another tape until after a spectacular attack against us. Was that in reference to a video, I wonder, or any type of tape?

Anyway, I wonder if the tape was given to AJ at some earlier time with the instructions to release it after the holiday season with the idea that it would be released after a successful attack.

Apparently Bin Laden and his JERKS couldn't wait any longer. Apparently Al JERKzeera is getting funding from Al Qaeda to put out their audio tapes. They are the only media station that is playing their tapes. No other Arab station really cares about Bin Laden but Al JERKzeera.

They would have referred to the attack if that were the case.

They did not refer to any attack, as far as what has been reported so far shows.

That was exactly my thought. Either that or the person who delivers the tape was told to do it on such and such a day and that's what he did. There was probably no way for him to be contacted again by the means with which he got the tape, so no way to countermand the order.
