'The weather was clear in Sharm el-Sheikh and other flights were taking off without incident, officials said.'

Despite early reports, weather does not seem to be a factor here. No crash or explosion was heard and there was no distress call.

No one here knows the particulars because we weren't there, were we?

I was.

On the Euro channels (I think primarily Sky and/or the CNN out of London), there have been a zillion ads hyping this resort region as the "Red Sea Riviera". These ads were ubiquitous in November and Decemember, like Florida and Caribbean ads are in New England in the dead of winter.

Sharm El-Sheik, home to peace treaties from hell, the kind that crash and burn on take-off.

It will be interesting to see the flight mainifest of who's who onboard this plane.... Usually, important people like an entire class of Egyptian Military officers just graduating from a school in the US a few years back.....

German tourists at the pyramids

Chewed up by insane Fruitcakes of Islam terrorists

I recall seeing that videotape on TV

Pretty raw ruthless stuff

Canaries in the mine

Sure makes you wonder about the Germans

Clinton said zip about it

Our US press hardly touched it

Kick the can

The plane disappeared from the radar screens of Cairo airport at 4:44 am (0244 GMT), minutes after taking off from the Red Sea resort's airport, the civil aviation authority said.

~ the private Egyptian company Air Flash ~

I just made a comment about Sharm el Sheik's relationship to crashing and burning peace treaties, and then I saw this. *At the same time* the Concorde ("peace treaty") crashed and burned on take-off, it was announced that the Camp David II talks had failed...

Concorde flight AF4590 crashed shortly after take off from Charles De Gaulle aiport, outside Paris on July 25, 2000 at about 4:44 p.m.

Hmmm, I wonder what's going on in the peace treaty realm...

Maybe the answer is at post 64.

Fox TV is reporting that France caved and will give us manifest lists of planes heading to the US at least one hour before flight time.

Thanks

I'll see what else I can come up with on it

I have some audio and graphics but I need details and more raw material to come up with a good compostite graphic

People forget quickly

See the reply I got on this thread that refers to the German tourists slaughtered at the pyramids by insane Fruitcakes of Islam terrorists

That other post about trying to ransom RFK's Islamic assassin Sirhan Sirhan for two US diplomats is another dusty one under the carpet

Text and "Cut & Pastes" of old stories are good, but people need to see and hear things to stir their emotions and wake their cowardly butts up

Seeing that video was a turning point in my path from being a Democrat to a Republican. I wasn't fond of Clintoon -- I didn't trust him but didn't hate him. However, after seeing that video, although it was only shown a couple of times, I started to vehemently despise him and, a few months later, I switched to the Republican party.

Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane. :)

Paris -- About 3,000 people, mainly Muslim women, marched through Paris Sunday to protest a presidential proposal to ban Islamic head scarves from public schools.

The protest was the first in Paris against President Jacques Chirac's announcement Wednesday that head scarves and other conspicuous religious symbols, including Jewish skullcaps and large Christian crosses, should be banned from schools to protect French secularism.

This is the one you're talking about here, or?

World Tourists massacred at temple (source BBC)

More than 60 people have been killed at one of Egypt's most popular tourist attractions. Most of the casualties were Japanese, Swiss and German tourists. Three Britons were among the dead.

Gunmen fired on them as they visited the temple of Hatshepsut in the town of Luxor. Dozens were gunned down.

A two-hour gunbattle followed, as the assailants, believed to be Islamic extremists, tried to escape into nearby ravines...
