This is a nice developement. The 'Rats are one more seat short of control. This makes the House 230-205 Republican. Could Charles Stenholm be persuaded to switch partys?

I don't think so - Stenholm was never as conservative as Hall was and these old Blue Dog Democrats Die Hard.

Check Stenholm's voting record before you make such a wish!

While he's often mentioned in the same breath as Ralph Hall, Charlie Stenholm is nowhere near as conservative as Hall:
For '02, Stenholm got a 50% rating from the American Conservative Union, while Hall got an 88%.

In fact, Hall's voting record only falls below that of Tom DeLay due to his voting in favor of HR 4931, which would not have allowed U.S. firms to incorporate in foreign nations with lower tax rates.
