Audio recording isn't really my thing... but have you tried Ardour, Ecasound, GNUsound, or Audacity? Comparing from what I read on the Cakewalk website and GNU programs listed on freshmeat.net, these programs look like they have something you might be interested in.

I'm aware of them and have looked them all over and feel they are the best sound apps out for Linux right now. However, they are NOOOO where near ready to handle what I need them to handle. In Cakewalk I am able to easily multitrack over 100 stereo digital tracks at a time.

Appreciate you looking for me though:)

One day...some enterprising smart person will port Cakewalk or something similar to Linux and the world will be a brighter place!
