Could it be that the ACLU wants to infultrate Rush limbaugh's team? Rush is unlikely to go anywhere soon. Affiliation would buy them legitimacy. (same as every media outlet which gets better ratings by putting Rush in the news.

They could easily file for permission to file an amicus brief without the need for an affiliation.

Maybe.. But outside conservative circles, the ACLU already has legitimacy. It could be about publicity, but consider the media - with their liberal tendencies, they already will cover the smallest ACLU lawsuit at the drop of a hat, but ignore Limbaugh except to mock him and cover bad things about him.

Sure, it might buy them some notoriety, supporting someone who most people would assume is their mortal enemy, but in many circles associating with Rush will make them LOSE legitimacy!

The ACLU always has been an advocate of medical privacy, and Rush is a high-profile victim of government intrusion into our personal records. I say Rush should take them up on it. Who knows - maybe some of Rush's conservativism will rub off on them!
