Paul Harvey was born in 1918. As I understand it, a controversy that has always followed him is that he somehow avoided military service in WWII. Perhaps someone here knows some more details about this

From Paul Harvey's biography: Mr. Harvey moved to Hawaii in 1940 to cover the U.S. Navy as it began to concentrate its fleet in the Pacific. He was returning to the United States from that assignment when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Paul Harvey enlisted into the Army Air Corps, where he served until 1944.

How many servicemen in World War II were discharged honorably before the end of the war?
