It is true that Lafayette fled the French revolutionaries. But, later in life, at the Restoration, he returned to a place of high honor in France.

And your point is what? That, but for the few hours' margin Lafayette had to escape his own country wearing his head on his neck, the French are a great and noble race?

There are two words that capture France well, both today and in the history books. The Terror.
