December 24, 2003 -- Rush Limbaugh tore into Florida prosecutors on his radio show yesterday - suggesting they're part of an evil Democratic plot to defeat him "in the court of public opinion." The top-rated conservative talker, furious a judge is letting prosecutors examine his medical records for evidence of "doctor shopping," accused them of smearing his name through unsubstantiated leaks to the media.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him think.

Unless there is an overriding need to know. Which, under the war on drugs, can be very broad.

But not all-obliterating, which appears to be the de facto interpretation in Rush's case. One needs more than a suspicion and a fishing pole to do this. One needs solid evidence that it will corroborate evidence already in hand for a crime. At least until this airy fairy laughingstock excuse for a "court" ruled.

I'm glad you now recognize that there is a legal right to confidentiality of medical records (with exceptions noted). That's a big step up from your original denial of any legal right to such confidentiality.

I actually was more focused on the attorney-client privilege for obvious biased reasons. (former attorney---but I am better now)

The police fish everyday for DUI and drug offenders.

It is amazing how many people who had had their cars searched for "allegedly" swerving over the yellow line by an inch or two.

Rush is getting an object lesson in how the drug war works. You can use it to mount a vendetta against anyone. Wait till he finds out about the seizure-on-suspicion clause.

Vehicles on public roads might as well be fishbowls for all the 4th amendment seems to apply anymore. BUT THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RUSH LIMBAUGH'S MEDICAL RECORDS!

To be fair, for quite a while Rush was only condemning dealers. I think he knew what was heading around the bend, though hoping against hope it wouldn't happen.

I personally would rather someone search my medical records than my car. They will find fewer beer cans in my records.

But they may find a beer belly there (apologies if that doesn't apply to you :-)

When I went to visit one doctor who was particularly rude, I entertained the idea of bringing in my cat's X-rays from the veterinarian. They were exactly the same size.

I sent a rude vet a urine sample with Miller Lite in it.

Two weeks later he called me with the bad news:

My horse had diabetes.

I'm sad because it seems the only lawyers with integrity are the ones who are about fed up to HERE with the system and are about to quit.

I had an attorney's office tack a different draft of a notarized statement to my notarized signature page, ignoring the fact that I had gotten the notary to notarize every single page of what I had taken to the notary, not just the signature page. Now that's inexcusable, especially when I learn about the discrepancy right in the middle of a sworn statement. OK, blame the paralegal for this one, but ecch.

Does anyone actually listen to this stuff? I turned on Rush yesterday and it was just 24/7 Rush's lawyers and the evil DA. Boring, boring, boring. I turned to the classical music station where I could get more interesting news.

Rush continually drawing lines in the sand is not going to discourage the prosecution. It will only make them more stubborn.

He needs to head his lawyer's advice and just shup up.

I haven't for years - the man is so full of himself I gag. The issues aren't about him - although he'd like to think so, and with so many around here supporting him even when he's wrong is totally mindboggling. Beig a dittohead must mean you leave your brain outside & merely parrot what rush says. Sad, truly sad.

I know it's easy to get that impression about lawyers. But at least 95% of them are honest, hard-working people.
