Limbaugh lawyer discussing plea bargain

That makes perfect sense to me. That's what happens to the vast majority of drug offenders on their first offense. A slap on the wrist and a year's probation.

As I have stated previously, I think that Rush's
core legal problem is the 'multiple-scripts-same-time'
issue. IMO, other isuues such as money laundering and
trafficing will be used only as an incentive for Rush
to make a deal. Is the multi-'scripts' issue,
a manditory jail crime, or does it go to some type
of 'first-offenders' court?

Bellows said Limbaugh, who recently completed treatment for addiction to prescription painkillers, recognizes that he may have purchased drugs illegally under Florida law and "certainly had more pills than he could ever use."

*** *** ****

FL law does not care what you intended to do with the pills. The law states a specific amount equals dealer.

The Palm Beach state attorney is trying to figure out how to put rush in possession of a dealer amount of drugs. Ususally this is done by catching the person red handed with the drugs.

Here they are trying to use the maid to say she "saw" him with the dealer amount of drugs. Also under FL law, a dealer is ineligible for a downward departure from the mandatory sentencing guidlines. Another incentive for the Palm Beach Democrats.

The state will still have to figure out how the drug dealer maid and her husband are going to be able to testify the drugs they are alledging were actually Rush's and not part of their own dealing.

I'd have a sh*tload of respect for Rush if he admitted what he did, accepted his "guilt," and then started railing on the Drug War---the Drug War which allows legislators to craft laws like the one that considered him a drug dealer/distributor based on nothing but the quantity of drugs found in his possession---the same law that could send him up the river for years and years and years if he can't arrange for a plea bargain.

And just what does a good capitalist do with his excess inventory? Intend to sell it, maybe? :D

Why is it the patient's responsibility to report that he is getting pills elsewhere? Isn't it the doctor's job to ascertain if the patient is being treated by someone else, through an interview or questions on the office form? Ultimately, if it's the patient's responsibility to seek the council of just one doctor, what's the point of a "second opinion"? Furthermore, shouldn't they have run some blood tests on him before prescribing addictive pain killers? My doctors make me get blood tests for just about everything including vitamins!
