I vaguely remember a story about one of the paragons of perfection, a Pharisee, (or maybe it was the Saturday Night Live Church Lady) gossiping with like-minded friends. As they were measuring themselves against their lessers, one of them even accused Jesus Christ, himself, of being a hypocrite, a drunken, and a glutton.
His friend replied: "Yes, it is truly sad to watch someone who has set the bar so high for so many fail ... ... had an effective voice until he let his arrogance and, yes his frailties, diminish his message. We can forgive him for his frailties. We shouldn't for his arrogance."
Hahahaha
And just what does a good capitalist do with his excess inventory? Intend to sell it, maybe? :D
Fact remains, Rush has yet to take this like a man. He has been very Clintonian in his use of his bully pulpit. He has not only his own resources, but the resources of a syndicator doing everything possible to craft an image in our mind. Believe me, his attorney is only going to try to find case law that may be massaged to his advantage. Is that what we want, a possible bending of case law?
I want to read this to you and then have just a few comments about this, and then we will move on.
DID he take any calls about this 'statement' during the show? or just 'move on' right over it all?
I don't like reading about myself...I never talk in this third-person business...
Heh.
These records will show that there was no doctor shopping.
Great! Then show them!
"He should not have to sacrifice his privacy to prove his innocence.
BUT, he should WANT to if he IS innocent. No?
Do you recall how you first heard of this story, ladies and gentlemen? It was in a tabloid newspaper.
And they were right, weren't they?
These medical records, by the way, will prove legitimate medical conditions requiring treatment.
Then show them - we're STILL waiting...
In fact it was... Well, I don't want to get [into that.] I'm so tempted to just tell you, but I'm just not going to make their job any easier.
What a load...
Now, as you all know, I have admitted that I was addicted to prescription painkillers. I have been to five weeks of treatment. BY WHOM? After failing twice to get off of these things myself, I sought professional help BY WHOM? , did so, and I continue to be in treatment now. BY WHOM? Now, I don't know, and this is...I run the risk here. I'm not whining about it. Oh, PERISH the THOUGHT!
I could give you some names of actors and actresses and sports figures, and not one of them have been pursued in this circumstance.
So, if everybody else is doing it...
And that's as much as I want to say... No, that's not as much as I want to say; that's as much as I'm going to say about it at the memo. [sic]
More not-telling-the-complete-truth; just as much as he wants said.
A fortune cookie i once saw said: "...Truth is told once; lies are repeated many times..."
Priceless!
Honey, you're on a roll!
This "story" is only dealing with the 2,000 pills Rush got from doctors during a six month time period in 2002; everbody is avoiding any discussion whatsoever about the OTHER pills he was getting from the maid -- and her claim is that during one 47 days period she furnished him with almost 4,800 pills!
YOU: And they were right, weren't they?
The very first reports about Bill Clinton and Monica were in a "tabloid" -- Drudge -- and I don't remember Rush saying at that time that we should all wait to hear from a really reliable source, do you?
And if the patient lies?
IMHO, Rush is making the correct business moves. Rush's job is to keep a large audience for his radio show and sell advertising to generate high revenues.
Rush knows is audience very well. Most of his hardcore listeners see the world as a panorama where the right wing fights the left wing.
Since Rush is in the political right, he must be right on the rest of his dealings. Anyone questioning Rush's personal life is attacking Rush, and therefore, attacking the right wing.
It's very similar to the Clinton followers who ignored the serious accusations against the former President because Clinton was a left-winger. Left wingers must always defend left wingers, and right wingers must always defend right wingers.
So far, Rush has held to his audience, so I will say he's doing the right thing business-wise.
You hit the nail on the head; that's why the prosecutor is going after Rush's medical records, to find Rush's questionnaires and his doctor's notes. The prosecutor hopes to use such evidence to proof that Rush failed to disclose he was receiving similar prescriptions from other doctors.
Be careful, very careful, with those questionnaires you fill out at the doctor's office, or the answers you give to your doctors.
The War on Drugs can become the War on Us.
Good grief! so little time here. . .suffice to say however, you have overread or perhaps just misread my post; or what I intended. . .
For sure, I do not idolize Rush. No Buddha's on the road for me, thank you ; but I do have an enormous amount of respect for Rush; and yes, for his chosen capitalistic endeavors which, in the end; have been an intellectual bounty for many listeners.
No reason to separate his 'contributions' from his work; that he gets paid to 'opine' and get a sleeping population up to speed, and give some political solace to the rest of his viewers - is beside the point.
I never called into discussion his altruism; but given the topic of his conversation, three hours - five days a week - surely have no reason to doubt it - or his love of cigars; football or golf. . .and so what? No one has to 'go there'. . .nor for a moment. Oh the beauty of it!
As for the oft used phrased. . .'possesion with intent to sell'; this hardly means that Rush is 'the rest of the story here'. I mean, realistically; is that not what real dealers do. . .for their livihood? Do not think Rush needs a 'second income'. . .or third or fourth. . .
As for his medical records; this is a travesty. . .of intent and going beyond the what the law intends/allows. . . not unlike the intentions and not-so-legally sanctioned actions of the 'jack-booted Feds' rescuing Elian. . . .
This prosecutor does not need Rush's medical history to prove he was 'Doctor shopping'. They have the record of prescriptions; all of them. . .and the number of pills counted. . . and they already have Rush getting his second source of pills from his maid as well.
They can prove whatever they want to;without the medical history.
More than scary and beyond outrageous; to think these people can ride above one's rights; and manipulate the law and 'their' Courts; to their favor. I remember the subterfuge and dishonesty used to get, what remained, essentially, an illegal search warrant to 'save' Elian.
That the tactics used against Rush are no more than the same kind of a 'just desserts' mentality; as well as the usual 'end justifies the means' - above and beyond the law effort - and it should raise more than a red flag here.
It should raise - can you say - 'outrage' on behalf of Rush. . .and as well, have real concerns as to what it portends. . .
I am outraged that our freedom is so easily compromised by these people (yes, those evil Demrats) and people do not care; if only because they see him as a fair target; not realizing 'their' face is inside that bulls-ring of a target as well.
Outrage? You bet. . . and where will this end"
It may just depend on how you care to spell. If you don't mind Amerika; or if you do. . .
Oh, and about that underwear; real Republican's do not donate their dirty/worn/ragged underwear and take a tax deduction for their charity.
(. . .and now the announcement re 'mad cow disease'. . .more outrage and scepticism re the possibilities ofterrorism being orchestrated against America....but that is another post.)
I'm really beginning to think that if Limbaugh ritually sacrificed a virgin in the middle of Times Square and ran dripping with blood and waving a knife to the top of the Empire State Building with a bullhorn and started yelling that he was the antichrist, there would be an element here who would support him simply because he's a valuable weapon in the war between left and right that seems to be the sum total of a lot of folks' existence.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's an important war that needs to be fought, I wouldn't be here if I didn't think that, but in nearly 30 years as a conservative activist politics has always been important to me but it's not been my life 365/24/7 and I can put aside political considerations when the situation calls for it.
Basically, I'm a Pharisee when it comes to the law. I plead guilty to that and make no apologies for it. I expect people who live in this society to obey the law, period, or suffer the consequences of both illegal and civil disobedience. I'm not bloodthirsty when it comes to punishment, I don't think every perp belongs in jail and I normally wouldn't lock somebody up and throw away the key on a first offense. But I expect that people obey the law. Period. And I expect that people take responsibility and accept the consequences when they violate it. Period. Regardless of who they are, what party they belong to or what political philosophy they follow or whatever they've done good or bad in the past.
I'll take it this far, if somebody were to put in my hands right now evidence ... I mean iron-clad, incontrovertible, undeniable, 100 percent credible evidence that would stand up in any court right up to the Supremes, not just blathering and made-up stuff by liberals and Democrats, that G.W. Bush was guilty without any shadow of a doubt of high crimes and misdemeanors, I would immediately advocate his impeachment, regardless of any political considerations. I could not look at myself in the mirror in the a.m. otherwise.
Rush knows is audience very well. Most of his hardcore listeners see the world as a panorama where the right wing fights the left wing.
(i.e. blinded by idolizing him?)
Since Rush is in the political right, he must be right on the rest of his dealings. Anyone questioning Rush's personal life is attacking Rush, and therefore, attacking the right wing.
And...you actually believe this...?
Left wingers must always defend left wingers, and right wingers must always defend right wingers.
Words fail me.
So far, Rush has held to his audience, so I will say he's doing the right thing business-wise.
Should the unfortunate occasion ever present itself: please remind me not to ever do any business with you... :)
"...alright - let's see you do THAT on television!..." (who else here is old enough to remember Stan Freberg and the twenty-ton (I think) maraschino cherry?)
