I felt it in SF. The little fridge on my desk was rocking back and forth.

My husband felt it in the East Bay too (Pleasanton).

I think I saw on TV once that the San Andreas actually runs under Berekley's football stadium.

Don't think so. That's probably the related Heyward fault. the San Andreas runs along the eastern side of the spine of hills on the coast of the San Francisco Peninsula. San Andreas lake is right along the west side of highway 280 where route 92 goes over those hills to Half Moon Bay. We lived on the crest of those hills up in Pacifica, just south of SF, which is where the fault goes out to sea outside the Golden Gate. Not near the fault... on the fault. We only had a 5.4 and a 5.9 while we were there, but it gets your attention.

This one is west of where I think the San Andreas is at that part of California. It's further south of the Loma Prieta one that interrupted the World Series several years ago.

The map shows two more aftershocks, a 4.4 and a 4.0 about a minute apart, proceeding southeast along the fault line, looks like.

I did an internet search, and it appears that a 7.7 quake was in San Simeon in 1952. Does anybody know if that's correct?
