The Senate Super Bowl of '06: Rudy vs. Hillary
LA Times ^ | 12/21/03 | By John Ellis

The word around New York is that our former mayor, Rudy Giuliani, has decided to challenge Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton when she seeks reelection in 2006 — a matchup we almost saw in 2002 before he withdrew for personal reasons. Giuliani won't confirm or deny it (as recently as Friday he told radio host Don Imus he hadn't made up his mind), but two well-placed GOP insiders say it's "basically a done deal."

This would be the Super Bowl of Senate races and a dramatic "wild card" lead-in to the 2008 presidential election. Only one of the principals could advance to the next level. For Giuliani, challenging Clinton is a necessary step if he hopes to be a national GOP player. He could, if he chose, run for governor in 2006, but that wouldn't do him much good on the national stage. He would still be a pro-gay, pro-choice "Rockefeller Republican."

oops -- one "urge" will do.

But two "urge"s are so emphatic...

"Rudy holds the key to her political future."

Rove plays a mean game of chess - I just wish he would drop the Hispandering strategy.

Rudy's going to have to wait until '08 and run for President. He's the only Republican on the scene that can beat Hitlery in that race.

I predict the co-rapist will not run in 2006.
A loss would be the clinton death knell...
and reelection is by no means a given,
even without Rudy in the equation....

Her only other option is to run in 2004 - but she won't do that (I think...) - maybe an anvil will fall on her head (like in those old cartoons), and save us all.

Hillary must now hope of being a VP pick, or to be nominated at a brokered convention this summer.

To understand what will happen in 2004, one only has to look at the Torricelli last minute swap job they pulled off with the complicity of the liberal NJ Supreme Court. She will not make her move until after the convention. The nominee will have a tragic accident or medical emergency and, riding on a wave of sorrow and sympathy, H*****y will step in for the good of the country and the party. I also predict that she will never participate in a debate.
