As I recall, she is pro 'states determining choice'. That alone will cause howls of pain from the pro choice left.

Yes, that's what I recall too. A rather conservative position, isn't it? Damn, nice to hear someone agree with me about Condi for a change!

And you're right: A Condi nomination would push the Rats over the edge. It would really give a huge push to the Black Conservative movement -- one of the biggest fears of the left. When the largely religious black community starts to wake up, watch out Dems. A huge portion of their constituency will be drained away overnight. Condi can help that to happen sooner than later.

I know many people who are black and relatively conservative, but who are wary of voting Republican. I know more who don't care about either party but are inclined to think Democrats care more about them then Republicans. The widespread perception is that Republicans are closet racists. Obviously, this is not true, but it an illusion that we have yet to dispel.

It's not so much an ideological problem as an image one. Electing Condi would change that image entirely. Leaders like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have nothing to offer but fear and prolonged victimization. A role model like Condi Rice could offer the vision of success through education and hard work.

If she's were only a B- Conservative, the 'force multiplier' of her gender and ethnicity would alter the flow of political though in America. She'd be an A+ Republican, which would hasten the destruction of the liberal victimization machine. Looking at the big picture, it's far better to get her in, than someone more conservative.
