I thought it was pretty good also. The preshow promotional hype was not borne out in tha actual show.
It was remarkably similar ot the account by James Mitchner in "Texas"

The dark secrets are what happened to the defenders bodies and what was done to the prisinors at Goliade.

I've had several Mexican friends tell me roughly: "You guys had him [Santa Ana], why didn't you just kill him then? You would have saved Mexico lots of grief." I guess, in Sam Houstons eye's, Santa Ana was worth more alive than dead in order that he might sign the treaty for Texas independence. After signing, he had to be provided with the necessary security to return him safely to Mexico. Texans almost lynched him before his ship set sail from Texas to Mexico. Don't know if that would've invalidated the treaty or not but sure wouldn't have been much of a loss in the eyes of many mexicans. I'm sure he would've only been replaced by another corrupt, sociopathic dictator however.

Well, while Juárez may have been pretty good, Diaz was a disaster. I'm not sure México ever recovered from Diaz.
