And for more good news in the Schadenfreude department.

Like he wasn't crazy enough to begin with, imagine the psychological torment of hiding in filthy dirt holes in the ground for the hygiene freak:

"Instead, the one-hour film, Uncle Saddam, reveals a man who seems to be preoccupied with … cleanliness.

"‘A Sweet or Stinky Smell’"

"It is not appropriate for someone to attend a gathering or to be with his children with his body odor trailing behind him, emitting a sweet or stinky smell mixed with perspiration," Saddam is shown saying to a village mayor."

"It's preferable to bathe twice a day, but at least once a day. And when the male bathes once a day, the female should bathe twice a day. The reason is that the female is more delicate and the smell of a woman is more noticeable than the male," the Iraqi president continues. "If a woman can't afford to brush her teeth with toothpaste and a toothbrush, she should use her finger."

"Soler says Saddam's emphasis on cleanliness is based on fear of being contaminated by germs and an obsession with security."

Squeaky Clean Uncle Saddam

Neil Cavuto was on Fox via phone a few minutes ago and he said the Asian markets will be opening soon, and we'll see how they react.

Was watching the Fox news footage of all this all morning.

This may have been answered before, but what's up with the red flags the Iraqi people are waving? (in celebration of Saddam's capture of course) They look like Soviet flags. Kinda freaked me out.

Hang him in that town square where they tore down that statue or let him rot in Gitmo.

Yes, brother, we have the cultural war to fight over here as our warriors fight the terrorists over there.

Fox News just said the EU wont go along with a death penalty.

The EU will have the same amount of input on the fate of Saddam Hussein as they total in rebuilding contracts in Iraq.

None, nadda, zippo.

I believe those flags were former regime flags.

Iraquis are cool people, this is a defiant act of sacrcasm.

All they need is a flag to fly in celebration...any flag!

"Dean - still wants us to pull out"

I have a feeling that the very next thing we'll hear from the left (over and over and over) is "hey we got saddam, it's time to pull out the troops." Just watch.. that will be their next thing to whine about even though normal people know that catching saddam doesn't mean the job is over.

BTW *yay*!! I can't believe all this news broke RIGHT AFTER I WENT TO BED LAST NIGHT! Man I wish I had stayed up just a little while longer. I just woke up and now have to catch up on a huge number of posts.

American journalists were also cheering. That is good news.

Wait until they get back to the office. They will each have to write 20 anti-Bush articles as pennance.

I'm waiting to hear that Mark Gerragos will defend him.

Jacko and Peterson can hear the cell doors slamming shut already.
