Can I get on someone's prayer list?

I learned of the passing of two close friends recently (one when I tried to call him today); one friend is in the hospital with pneumonia, another has been diagnosed with colon cancer; my son is going through a rough patch and so are my wife and I. And it's Christmas coming up! How wonderful.

Don't sweat what time of year it is. It would suck in spring too.

Get on your knees and surrender to G-d's will. He'll help you. I'll send prayers up to Him to watch over you. You'll be alright.

You're on my prayer list bro. My granddaughter and I will light a candle for you and yours at mass tomorrow.

Remember this, men are sometimes reticent to reach out for help, don't fall into that trap.

you're on mine!

We have nthing we can trust. One hting that hurts so muc, is learning how we are totally incapable of changing things outside ourselves.

Events like this are not in our hands, and our pride, our flesh wants to rspond in some way, yet we cannot.

This is the perfect time to turn to the Lord for comfort, for only He can be trusted to be secure, to be honest, to be there when we need Him.

Friends will abandon us, family can disown us, but God, when we are rightly related to Him, will never let us go.

The emotions we feel are what we are supposed to feel. Pain is there for a reason, emotional hurt is there for a reason. It shows we loved or that we cared. It reminds us we tried to do something. But sometimes the reality of our situation does ot hit us until the loss occurs: We are not in control; God is.

That is where it begins, it is where it ends, it is what we are supposed to think first and what we are supposed to think last.

And this kind of surrender is a good one. It is a surrender to the reality we never think of, the reality that we are not in control of our everyday lives, God is.

This is the perfect time to discover the reality of a certain verse:

(Phil 4:6 KJV) Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

(Phil 4:7 KJV) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

(Phil 4:8 KJV) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

The final verse tells us where we are to direct our thoughts, especially in a time of emotional hurt: Think about the things that God has done for us.

I am sorry for the loss of yur friends. It has been years since I lost anyone close. I lost a friend once on his wedding day, he lost control of his car going to pick up the best man, and died in the ambulance. We have both seen people die and heard of people die in the Marines. We didnt think of th pain then at those moments because we had our minds focused on many other things, and most times, the pain came later.

As civilians, we dont have those other events to distract us, and we appreciate life more. Losses hurt faster, and we are often the ones who appear to be the rock others lean on.

I am so sorry for you to lose your friends. Remember: God wants you to trust Him in these times, He will never die on you, He wants you to turn to Him, He wants you to lean on His shoulder and ask Him to ease the pain.

That's why He is called Father.
