I won't bore everyone by repeating myself...but often, selfishness doesn't have a thing to do with it. It really doesn't. I speak from experience.
While this is true, there are also plenty of instances of suicidals doing the deed in front of loved ones. IMO, what they are doing is giving the ultimate F-U to the people they blame for their problems.

That happens, and it's horrible. I can't imagine anything worse.
I just know it isn't always like that. It's probably not even most often like that. More typically, someone in tremendous emotional pain feels they cannot go on living. They may - like my brother did - feel they are too much of a burden or embarrassment to those they love. They may - like my brother did - feel they are a danger to those they love.
If I hear one more person insist on using the "s" word tonight ("selfish"), I swear I'm going to scream.
