I see what you are saying but, the object they saw was in the field in front of the farm house. It's hard to imagine that men trained to know what aircraft they were observing, brave men, were quaking in their boots and all shook up over a light house beacon.
It doesn't seem likely.

Like the guard just said, they had been in that area for months, they knew the location of the light house. He touched the craft himself, recorded it's markings, of course he could be a pathological liar, but he doesn't strike me as such.

These new facts are - for instance - how one of the primary witnesses described seeing the lighthouse at the same time as the UFO and thus was certain the UFO was not the lighthouse. Which is fine, except that, on closer questionning, the position he cites for the lighthouse is wrong. It is actually where a smaller lightship was then located. The UFO he relates was thus pretty much where the real lighthouse was positioned.
