The United States will hand over key members of the former Iraqi regime to a special tribunal established on Wednesday, and Saddam Hussein could be tried in absentia, the head of the U.S.-backed Governing Council said. Sounds good...

"This is the national campaign against terrorism and sabotage," said Abo Thaer, 55, a member of the Iraqi Communist Party. His party members turned out with giant red flags bearing the hammer and sickle. Participants Wednesday said the rallies marked International Human Rights Day.
God Bless em, but BOY, do we need to get some HISTORY books into that country and FAST!!!

200? Try 10,000 in Baghdad, even Al Jeezera is claiming 10,000 so it was probably a lot more. You can see the courage building in those people who have been held down so long.
On one of the Iraqi bloggers sites there are dozens of pictures of this protest. You see smiling faces everywhere and some of the most clever signs you've ever seen. Some of them jeering Al Jeezera and Al Arabia. Good people finding out what freedom really means.

Come see some of the pictures.

Great post, saquin!
Thanks for the ping, RC!!
Iraqis enjoying the freedom to speak out against the terrorists! Not just in one city but several. Too cool!
Haven't heard a word about this on the TV news yet. Now why am I not surprised?

Gotta love the scare quotes AFP puts around "terrorism".
Leave it to a French news agency to have the discretion to not be
judgemental about the current labor of love by Saddam's "freedom fighters".
(end sarcasm)
If the French keep reporting those equivocating headlines, I say don't just
shut them out of the current bid process for reconstructing Iraq...
send 'em a freaking bill at about $10,000,000 per each Coalition life lost.

Fox had the story on Special Report with some good shots of the crowds.

They are starting to understand the concept of FREEDOM!
Just a few months ago, they would have lost their lives for daring to protest.
