Islamic culture that led the world in economic, military, political and intellectual achievement

Pu-leeze  Islamic culture was never at the forefront of political and intellectual achievement.  By and large, the great Islamic contribution to civilization was as a transmitter of knowledge.....not as a contributor.

It that capacity, the role of Islamic culture could not be overstated.....but Islamic culture didn't add much to the bulk of knowledge they held alive while Europe was in the Dark Ages.

Islam was hostile to the free inquiry virtually from day one.

This article is biased against the "religion of peace", islam. We are just ignorant, closed-minded Americans who have no right to judge the islamic world. Sure, slicing the throat of one's daughter may seem harsh to we simple-minded, unsophisticated, jingoistic Westerners, but we have to be more understanding, tolerant and accepting of that with which we disagree. I am sure our 'backward' cultural practices of allowing women to drive, own thriving businesses, and serve as National Security Advisor, may seem equally abhorrent to the islamic world. It's time for all of us to open our minds a bit.
