USS Niagara

Gilliam Class Attach Transport: The keel was laid November 20th 1944 under the Maritime Commission contract at Consolidated Steel Corporation in Wilmington, California. Launched February 10th 1945 and aquired by the Navy on March 26th 1945, she was commissioned USS Niagara on March 29th 1945.
USS Niagara survived two atomic tests during 1946 while assigned to Operation Crossroad. She was decommissioned on December 12th 1946 at Norfolk Virginia. She was sold for scrap to National Metals Company, Philadelphia PA.

For some reason I can't get the link or the picture there to post but it says the USS Niagra Falls delivered supplies to USS Enterprise in the Indian Ocean, Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001. The USS Enterprise is one of the many ships involved in the attacks in Afghanistan
