Thanks for the ping to that link maggie. My heart just sank again reading about the blood in the back of that animal's car.

Maggiefluffs, I read that article also. Thanks for putting it out there. Nothing to confuse us in it, is there? One thing I didn't see was the story about "body fluid/s" in Dru's car. Maybe that was always a rumor; that the body fluid (blood) was found in HIS car?
I'm still applauding the way LE is handling this case.

I did see a report that one LE source said there was only a small amount of blood in the perp's car. Even if he did clean the car, the luminol would show if there was a bloody scene in the back seat. A part of me is hanging onto the hope that she was injured, not killed and maybe captive..maybe an accomplice. I know it's a slim chance but I'm praying for her family's sake.
I just heard on MSNBC that LE is officially calling it a recovery, not a rescue....heartbreaking reality.

Even if he did clean the car, the luminol would show if there was a bloody scene in the back seat.If LE had used luminol and found that there was a bloody scene in the back seat, would they give that info to the family? For some reason, the family must believe that Dru escaped that car. The family seems to be in denial that Dru is no longer among the living. I pray that's the case, too, Jackie.

The family seems to be in denial that Dru is no longer among the living. You're right, they do. Funny, we don't see them out there selling her car... if you get my drift!

I just saw Ed Smart and Dru's Aunt on Hannity. She was just saying the same thing I was about the small amount of blood being a positive thing. Hannity asked her if the fact that the perp cleaned the car bothers her and she said, "no, knowing what I know, it does not bother me."
So maybe LE is telling them something, after all the scum is behind bars..

A sane society would start plucking out his fingernails until he told them where her body is. It's outrageous that family and friends are still searching while the one person who can stop the madness is sitting in a warm cell, eating food we pay for.

My husband says that they don't have the death penalty in that state. Is that true?

No they don't have the death penalty in that state, but kidnapping is a federal offense, and if a murder occured as a result of the crime, it is punishable by death. I think the feds are holding off on bringing charges because no body has been found yet, only a small amount of blood in the perp's car.
This guy has spent most all of his adult life in prison, so you can bet he is comfy cozy where he is at now. He only lasted 5 months on the outside working for a living like the rest of us. I doubt that he had done much of that in his lifetime. He is probably happy to have a warm bed, hot meals, all of the comforts that the State can give him. I wish that if and when Dru is found, dead or alive, they put this scum in with the general population, instead of the private accommodations he has now.

Good GOD, Jackie! (I read the article.)
And people tell me I'm not normal b/c I don't just accept my children roaming the streets in cars, hanging out, going from friend's house to friend's house, using fake ID's to get beer... etc. ["WE did it when WE were teenagers, and WE turned out okay." My reply to that is: I didn't do it when I was a teenager, and I turned out okay, too.]

The CNN article does not have the added info on the "person of interest" that is being held for questioning in this case. He is a 49 year old ex-con, was convicted of murdering a 15 year old boy in Cook County Illinois in the 80's. He has also been convicted of sexual assalt. He is renting the home, and neighbors say that in addition to selling bike parts, he has been known to hang out with many teenage boys from the area.

Convicted of murdering. Yet he's no longer in jail. That was the first mistake...

When I read the case you gave me link to this AM, I said, "Oh I gotta tell Dev about what's going down here!"
My little man has been addressing "freedom issues" at counseling and he just can't understand why I won't let him too far from home, I need to know which friend's house he is at all the time! I was really mad at him a few weeks ago because he went from one kid's house to another down the street without telling me. I was so frantic looking for him, and when he heard me whistling for him, he came out. He was grounded for a week!
But like I said, no child, male or female is safe out there anymore.
My brother who lives right in the immediate area where this is happening also has a young son. His sister-in-law lives a few blocks from this creep in Hammond, IN.
