Interestingly, the Japanese use a large part of their 747 fleet as commuter aircraft between Tokyo and other cities in Japan. They would use the A-380 in the same role if they ever bought it. Still, boarding and deplaning an aircraft with 800 people would be very time consuming under the best of circumstances.

You also have to modify the terminal 9and possibly the runways) to handle the plane: not a big selling point.

I've long suspected that this A380 will turn into another Concorde-- I think the current purchases have already glutted the market.
