And I was pleased that she went to Iraq to pay tribute to our troops, and the president paid tribute to the troops, and that's appropriate."

He was asked about her visit. If he had referenced the president's visit first it would have smacked of "The president went TOO" and sounded petty. Instead he made his remark, being sure to underscore first that he disagrees with the wench.

Card is not deserving of ire. He did very well.
