"There is no law that allows a person to be audited to determine which criminal laws may have been violated. You have to actually be caught violating a law and then discovery is conducted in relation to that law"
Actually, counselor, there IS such a law, the Patriot Act. It was enacted in the name of 'fighting terrorists' and was used to gather evidence against someone recently. The case was a subject of much intense conversation here on FR! The suspicion that someone MAY have committed some act, or be so inclined, is all that is necessary, for them to 'go fishin'! And, it does not need to be related to National Security issues!
I would link it, but do not remember all the details.
From reading your posts, I would ASSUME you do a lot of drug related defense work, so that possibly explains your affinity for cash transactions.

Tell your Dad that when I was young, I had surgery on my legs. The Doctors prescribed so much Morphine for the pain of the surgery, that they had to spend 2 weeks or more detoxing me. This is when I was 8 or 9. But it seems I still have to watch myself when I need even the modern pain killers for any reason.

It has been reported (Rush has confirmed this) that Rush took massive quantities of drugs, obtained from illegal sources.Rush has confirmed he is/was addicted to prescription pain medication. Period.
Note: I am not offering an opinion on how he obtained the pills, so don't make a leaps and bounds assumption on reading more into my statement of fact than is there.
(In an earlier thread, one idiot...
It is in extremely poor taste to denounce what "one idiot" had to say. How about saying "I've seen some think that..." and then you can add that you think such a position is unsupportable or foolish. It is against forum rules to engage in abusive behavior, which name calling of a freeper most certainly is.

Isn't the Patriot Act a Federal Law whereas Rushie is being examined under a Fl State Law by county attorneys?

and your point, is technically correct? My response, though, was to a lawyer, splitting hairs, and making an attempt at justification for Rush. His learned opinion was in question. He said he knew of no laws...
But then, that is what lawyers do! Obfuscate, and annhililate, just tools of the trade.

Is there admissible evidence about the "blackmarket"? No. Please do NOT insult our collective intelligence with crap like that.

eventually they buy them on the street. That is exactly my point! IF he had a legitimate reason for using them, he'd have a prescription for them.

But, I will attempt to refrain from name-calling...it's just so easy some times!

I don't think that has been established yet.Well, it hasn't been established that Scott Peterson killed his wife either, at least not in a court of law, but unless I'm sadly mistaken, haven't I seen you over on those threads indicating you think he's guilty?

"Perhaps the doctors are the actual target of the investigation."
That's what I was thinking. I think the doctor that wrote Rxs for Wynona Ryder got his license taken if I'm not mistaken. I know they tried to go after him.

Well, what am I missing here? Rush says he has a legitimate reason for using those drugs and I ask where the RX is -- and all of a sudden I'm seeing parsing like I haven't seen in years.

I haven't been following this that closely but seems one issue was he said he required extremely large doses. Doctors probably would not have given him as much as he wanted. Plus I believe he said in some many words that he enjoyed taking them (not a very bright confession to make to millions of listeners IMO). Um, is he required a large does, wouldn't a doctor give him that?
And I agree about the "confession." In light of what has happened today -- and what may be coming in the future -- not a wise thing to have done/said.
