Civility in politics is truly dead. But it's decline began with the institution of political correctness and political intolerance on college campuses. Try to express Christian views there, or patriotic views in Hollywood, where the blacklist has been revived, and you'll see real hatred and freedom repressing fanaticism. On many social issues, the left seeks to go from tolerance to acceptance to approval, on everything from sodomy to abortion. They are vehemently demanding uniformity in political thought and they very well may get a war, instead.
