Drugs Found In Man Who Died In Police Confrontation, Coroner Says 6 Officers Placed On Leave During Investigation CINCINNATI -- A nearly 400-pound man who died Sunday after struggling with Cincinnati police officers had drugs in his system and suffered from health problems, according to a coroner's report.
Police were called to the White Castle restaurant on Mitchell Avenue in Avondale just before 6 a.m. after employees reported a disorderly person outside the restaurant, WLWT Eyewitness News 5 reported.
The two officers who arrived first at the restaurant called for backup because Nathaniel Jones, 41, began to get violent, police said.
After Jones was restrained, officers realized something was wrong and called firefighters for help, police spokesman Lt. Kurt Byrd said.
Jones was taken to University Hospital, where he died a short time later, WLWT reported.

If you watch the police crusier video (on WLWT's web site), you'll hear who really plays the race card...it's the crook who's being arrested. Perhaps maybe he died because he was extremely overweight, had an enlarged heart and was jacked up on cocaine and PCP? Hmmm...maybe that was it?

According to a statement from the Hamilton County coroner, Jones had a cocaine and PCP in his system at the time of his death. Also, Jones had a "markedly enlarged heart, consistent with hypertensive heart disease," the coroner said.
I have warned my kids to avoid drugs like these because we have a family history of high blood pressure, stroke, and sudden death. Cocaine and PCP are not drugs to play around with. Add to them being twice his normal weight and enlarged heart, he was a time bomb just ticking away - with or without the illegal drugs. Looks like he had a DEATH WISH anyway you look at it.
I think he deserves a STUPID CRIMINAL award!

Has anyone posted a criminal history of this guy who died??? Please. I bet Ann Coulter already has that record in her hand. I'd be anxious to see why he wanted to resist arrest with such vehemency. If police tried to subdue me, I'd sure try to cooperate, make their job easy, and give my 'file' an opener that I was cooperating with law officers.

It makes me very uneasy to watch a bunch of white cops beat a black man. But man, that dude immediately attacked the cop who was walking up to him! I'd have understood if they'd just shot him on the spot, rather than trying to subdue him. Ironically, they're going to be crucified for having tried NOT to kill him.

He was at a White Castle restaurant, I'll bet that guy could put away a boat load of those things. They don't have whitecastle burger joints down here....You could sock away a dozen of those things in no time at all.

Yup, a couple of 9mm rounds would have eliminated a loooong term investigation. Let's see, OJ is off the radar screen, Laci is off the radar screen, Kobe is off the radar screen, Glove-Man-No-Nose-Man is off the radar screen; replaced by (trumpets wailing) "Fatso-400" will be the Tabloid-Of-The-Month 'til the next tabloid-read surfaces on tv.

Doesn't make me uneasy to see cops doing their job!
For the record: police CAN'T just "shoot" someone "on the spot" because he's fighting. Shooting is reserved for opposing DEADLY force. A cop in NYC lost his job for applying a chokehold on a 250lb guy with whom he had been fighting for ten minuets. (the guy died). 250 lbs for ten minuets! Sounds pretty scary to me!
It is easy to forget this in the new girly police era wherin female cops, for whom standards were lowered, are forced to pull their weapon when it isn't justified because they don't otherwise stand a chance against some crook. I've noticed for the past 10 yrs or so that the standard for pulling a gun is sliding down pretty fast. These guys didn't pull their guns. A couple of girls would have HAD to.

Mr. Jones was arrested in 1998 on a cocaine charge and paroled. He was then arrested shortly after for violating his parole and served the remainder of his one year sentence in prison.
He was reported to living somewhere on Whittler Ave. in Northside but no address had been established.
He was not one of my "Crack Rats".
I was talking to a friend from the Citizens On Patrol last night and I predicted "That the guy was on drugs and in less than a day, both Demon Lynch and Nate Livingston would be waving the bloody shirt of 'Another Black Man Murdered by the Po' Lice' and clamoring for the badges of the officers involved."
I hate it when I am right.

"Has anyone posted a criminal history of this guy who died???
From what Fox News said this morning, he had previous arrests and was on parole from a drug-related conviction.
I was listening to Hannity this afternoon, and he had some guy from the Cincinnati area who was claiming that the cops started the whole thing. Believe me folks, nobody in their right mind starts a fight with a 400 pound man for fear of suffering serious bodily harm. From what Fox News said, it took 6 cops to subdue this guy, and frankly, I'm surprised that's all it took. I've been involved in uses of force on all sizes of inmates, and there's times we've had to have six people to immobilize even a small, wirey guy. It all depends on the individual and his will to fight. It's alot easier if you can charm or kid a big bruiser to do what you want, but that isn't always the option. If I can get through an evening without having to use force on someone, I'm a happy camper. It isn't worth the potential pain, or the amount of paperwork involved to report it.

Cost/judicial time to Cincinnati Taxpayers; dead = < $5,000
Cost/judicial time to Cincinnati Taxpayers; alive = > $500,000 +
Good use of Budget Resources. Well done! Cut cities/police budgets and keeping the streets safer....endorse capital punishment.

"Jesse Jackson will use this incident as an excuse to go into Cincy, whip up hatred toward cops and whites, raise some more money among his dolting followers, hold a rally, give a speech that sounds like pig-English, incite a riot, and then leave town."
Oh, I'm sure the racial arsonist will show up. This is an opportunity he can't pass up.
As for the liberal idiots in Cincinnati, I'm not crying any tears for them. This kind of garbage doesn't fly just a few miles over the river.

I feel sorry for the officers involved. They are going to be screwed not only by their department (because they have to punish someone to appease the Jesse Jackson types), but they will be sued as well. It doesn't matter if this lowlife was fat, resisting arrest and on drugs. I know of someone who was a cop and had a person die on them (while sitting in the holding cell) due to a seizure---all while high on coke and pcp. Two police officers lost their jobs. Someone had to pay and once the lawyers get involved, it's all over for the cops. The fat guys family will cash in on this BIGTIME.

What isn't being shown is how he attacked one of the cops in the initial encounter. He punched the cop right in the face. I saw this on FOX news around 6. I am not saying the the guy should have been beaten to death, however if you are going to show the story, show the entire story. IMHO
