I work for Ma bell and I can tell you for sure there is no way for them to cut off communication inside the country or to our armed forces. 9/11 was the worst event in history for telecommunications and we still were able to keep traffic rolling. They would have to bomb hundred's of buildings in New York alone just to isolate New York from other areas.

Or taking out the Pentagon or CentCom in Tampa?
I'm so sick of Al Queda. It's not that they're powerful. They're like flying insects on a camping trip -- annoying, not terribly dangerous. But their endless buzzing is madding and disturbs sleep.

Nope.
Only a nuke could cause this.......and a nuke in DC at that.
EMP would disable MOST military satellites in the line-of-sight and many military comms on the ground......especially if detonated at 30k feet along the eastern seaboard.
COMPLETE CHAOS with very few, if any, deaths resulting from the explosion and radiation. Most would be casualities from the total loss of order, most transportation and almost all electronic communication. Even the electrical grid would fail.
