KIRKUK, Iraq (AP) -- U.S. senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Jack Reed met in this oil-rich northern city Saturday with local officials who urged the visitors to raise the problems of their city with U.S. officials back home.
After the 90-minute private meeting, Kirkuk's governor Abdel-Rahman Mustafa said the senators were briefed on the severe economic problems and high unemployment facing the city.

Sheesh she has the Iraqi officials standing there with their hands out -- now she's buying their votes just like she bought those Hasidic votes in NY.

I can give her this much - by virtue of her standing on the Armed Services committee, she has a valid oversight role.
That said, there should be a specific purpose, other than her own personal P.R., for which she is there. For all the coverage, I haven't seen one.

"1) Why is she over there in the first place? "a junior senator from new york, bet she didn't visit any troops from n.y.
the expression on that troops face says the same thing...
"2) Who's paying for her trip?"

Of course, when she was foisted upon NY state, I wanted her to come to my armory just so I COULD tell her that.
of course, I would've had to run VERY fast afterwards.

I'm a big believer that we ought to internationalize this.... Translation: My husband couldn't run the government when he had it, so I'm not going to give George Bush a chance to show that HE can run the government, either -- let's turn it all over to France and Germany.

"I'm a big believer that we ought to internationalize this, but it will take a big change in our administration's thinking," Clinton said. "I don't see that it's forthcoming.""I'm a big believer that we need adults in the White House. We need to stop chasing interns around the desk. Our administration used any international excuse to fire off missiles to divert attention from our immature President. At the same time, totally ignore our domestic economy. This is a big change in our administration's thinking," Crusty said. "I don't see that it's forthcoming.
No, wait. That is Bill's administration.
Never mind.

I'm not a Hillary supporter but she is going what politicians do best... pressing the flesh. She is making the rounds in a way that should make every one of the 9 dwarfs cringe in panic.
The Clark fiasco should have inflicted waves of terror in the DNC. Here comes this unknown guy and whoosh all the other guys are swept to the side. It still wouldn't be hard to see Hillary waltzing in at the last minute and making a run.
More rational though says not until 2008. I'll bet there is a huge team calculating that Bush should have a majority of the terrorist problem straightened out by 2008. This would be a perfect time for her to step in and start taking credit for winning the entire war on terror.

I'm curious: during her entire trip, has the old bat had one negative thing to say about Saddam? From what I read, it is a Bush-bashing trip disguised as hobnobbing with the troops. I guess she wants those absentee ballots to go in the Dims' favor this time around.

Everytime she goes to shake hands, that evil mouth of hers flies open. It is creepy. It's like a gecko lizard or something.

Yes.
And if she 'ran' and lost in 2004, she may likely get away without politcal damage, AND get the 'right' to whine about how things would be 'if I were king!!'.
There's all kinds of possibilities, and what she's doing DOES look alot like a presidential campaign.
