Excellent scoop. Despite the OPSEC feathers that you seem to have ruffled, I wouldn't worry about it. I think you played it smooth. The information as released wasn't enough to be useful or actionable until well after it hit the mainstream media. Hindsight is 20/20, which explains the concern, but the threat of Iraqi insurgent cells monitoring FR 24/7 and executing unplanned operations on a possible target of opportunity based on a vague comment from a vanity poster is negligible, at best.
Good OPSEC is always important, and I don't like to downplay it's importance, but in this case, I think what you posted was entirely within the limits of safety.

Prudence is advisable.

Loose lips sink ships. This saying wasn't invented for any reason. I would not condemn anyone who feels it this thread was over the line. Flaming them for it is not too cool.
I agree that I cannot see why releasing the information here would be a threat, but just because something doesn't have the appearance of danger, doesn't mean its not dangerous.
The need to know or rather "need to scoop" on this board is not necessary. This is a war, you know. A we should do our part, regardless of how trivial and insignificant it may appear.
I personally think our president being within mortar range of somewhere is significant enough for caution.

I agree with your assessment. I hardly think the "cells monitoring FR 24/7" would have been bright enough to catch on until well after the President was on his way back home.
BTW, I thought Jay Leno was the only one who monitored us 24/7.
He picks up all of his best jokes here.
