IS a hypocrite still applies. I always know why I do something, and a man representing himself as defender of truth, and righteousness, should be held to the same standard.

Rush is a hypocrit. I'm a hypocrit. Most people probably are. So when did being hypocritical become the highest wrong in our society? Rush has been as straightforward as he can be, being a public figure with legal issues possibly hanging over his head.

I can respect that. Certainly, it is much better to uphold some standard, even if we occasionally fall, than upholding no standard at all so as to avoid being labelled a hypocrit, isn't it?

This reminds me of Ayn Rand's book (cannot remember the name for the life of me- the John Galt one) and the discussion of laws. A character states that laws are made, such that even good people cannot help but break them. That incidence of law breaking can then be used to discredit the person who was thought of as good. That is why the liberals have elevated hypocracy to the highest level. They know that as humans we will all fall and thus are discredited. They continue to be as slimy as they want to be while holding the high moral ground. Nice of you to help them by giving it credibility.

This goes back a bit further than Ayn Rand. In the New Testament, the "Law" was said to have been given, as a schoolmaster, for instruction in righteousness, and to reveal our unrighteousness. Jesus came to fulfill, the Law, and the Prophets. It further states that it is not possible for 'man' to obey the Law, but that God has given us a way from being held accountable, through Faith in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ!

Of course WE are all hypocrites, but Rush says he is NOT!

The point that I have been making is not made to demean the man, just that he demeans his own words. He lowers their value, when he tries to justify his position. It is further exacerbated, when his ardent supporters can't see the forest, for the trees!
