RUSH: I'M NO HYPOCRITE

November 25, 2003 -- A sneak-attack caller yesterday launched Rush Limbaugh into a defense against charges he was a hypocrite for demanding tough sentences for drug users while he himself was taking black-market pain killers. "It's not hypocritical because my behavior doesn't determine the value of right and wrong - nobody's does," Limbaugh told listeners.

"pillhead" I love it, maybe Rush should become an FM jock now?

Radio talkshow hosts are as real as the WWF, but too many folk think the wrestling is real...

Then I will ask the original question again.

Was he a tad hypocritical?

"So it is acceptable to make light of death unless the death is someone close to your home or your mindset."

Oh quit yer bitchin.

We'll all sob like babies when you assume room temperature.

Again I disagree with you. In your do as I say not as I do world, your are indeed a hyppocite.

Many parents warn their children not to make the same mistakes they have made that in no way makes them hypocritical - even if a parent omits their own guilt. There is no reason kids need to know everything in order to be taught whats right and wrong.

Was he a tad hypocritical?

So when addressing you I should show the same reverence regarding the death of Osama Bin Laden as I would regarding the death of one of your parents? You can't draw a distinction between dicussing the death of a public figure somewhat irreverently and how one should address the death of a loved one when speaking with one of their close relatives?

As far as I know neither of the two I mentioned have been declared an enemy of the United States. That's a ridiculous example.

Not only do his statements make him a hypocrite, but his defenders on this site are right there with him.
I note they are the first to jump on someone for using hemp, as long as they are not conservative "entertainers".
I have listened to Rush since the third month, after he went national, still broadcasting out of ABC-NY, and had less than 100 stations. I have enjoyed listening to him, until the past few years.

He is an "entertainer". He reads something, lets others know about it in an "entertaining" way, and allows a few people to get on the air, with their comments. Because his message was broadcast in, what had previously been, a vacuum, his growth was predictable and exponential. He was in the right place, at the right time, thanks to Roger & Co. Now he has become so revered, that his faults are willingly overlooked, by the faithful, and are perfectly acceptable to the WOD supporters, on this site. That is also hypocritical.

He is now demanding special treatment. He has hired a good attorney, so he can hopefully escape any legal troubles. He probably will, because he is Rush.

I expect a real flaming here, from the robots, but IMO, Rush is NOT ALWAYS RIGHT! He is not the salvation of conservatives. He was/is a man, who decided to take massive amounts of drugs, illegally.

Hmmmm, that is what the guys smoking hemp do, isn't it? Shouldn't they be praised, and their behavior overlooked, as well, Dane? Oh yeah, that's different, it's not Rush, and its not oxycontin!

Rush takes calls that will evoke interest from his fans and are pertinent to today's news. If you are a LIEberal, your call goes to the front of the line. One thing he will not tolerate (from day one) is a caller who lies to get on, (sort of like the DUmmies who sometimes troll FR).

For the prime example of limbaugh's hypocrisy forget his addiction.

Look no farther than the double standard he applies when passing judgement on democrat big govt socialism vs republican big govt socialism.

Was he a tad hypocritical?

In your "when did you stop beating your wife" sort of way? Yes.

To use your example, if ANY commentator, print, web or broadcast, laughs at the death of someone, they forfeit the right to mourn or to be angry if someone makes light of someone they love?

Please. Spare me.

And of course, if anyone defends this, they become "hypocritical" or "sheeple?"

Now that you're done with your childish insults (and now that I've answered your loaded question), can you please provide me with an answer to mine? How was that other poster's response "mindless?"

>>>Your original statement was too simplistic.<<<

Probably. But the question was simplistic. Hypocrisy is more complex. But I say you don't automatically cease being a hypocrite the day after you stop the "wrong" behavior. Like I said it's a little more complex than that.

Lying about sex in an of itself, or lying under oath?

>>while Kurt Cobain and Mitch Snyder took the cowards way out and committed suicide<<

I've known a couple combat vets that did themselves in. I'm not sure what was going on in their minds but I do know they sure as heck were not "cowards".

Because it was defensive, I asked the question. I never intended to start a debate on whose life is more important.

Do you have one of those adjustable beds just like Rush
and Marta sleep on?

"I am sure there are a lot of parents out there who do not want their kids doing some of the stupid things they did as kids. Does that make them hypocrites?"

Yes.

Therefore, in WestonWorld (starring Yul Brynner) one may not teach their children.

One generation may never improve over another.

Nice recipe for anarchy you got there, pal.

He was/is a man, who decided to take massive amounts of drugs, illegally.

He is a man - he hasn't assumed room temperature yet.

He made a faulty decision. He is human. He is not the "savior" of conservatism (though some would make you believe otherwise). He is but a single voice among an ocean of voices.

He provides one view among a chorus. Many times those voices agree; many other times, they do not.

There are those who wish to worship at Rush's altar (and no, I'm not among them); there are those who want to see him fall; there yet others who want to use this as an indication that the "drug war" is failing and should be abandoned.

But to beat on Rush is not the most sporting thing to do.

Well, I'll make light of yours, anyways.
