MSNBC: 7 women and 5 men on the jury. They have been deliberating approximately 3.5 hours today. They have asked to be returned to the court room.

No word yet--but they were only supposed to deliberate until 1 p.m. Friday, then come back on Monday.

They're death penalty qualified.

2 questions from the jury: what happens if we're not unanimous. Can they come back & deliberate on Tuesday.

MSNBC just reported that, if the jury cannot arrive at a decision, the judge must impose life imprisonment.

Looks like they're going home for the weekend. How can you be against the death penalty here?

No verdict today. Judge told them to go back and try to reach a verdict on Monday.

You mean they can't decide a punishment?

Did the judge tell them that if they can't agree, Muhammed gets life in prison (I'd been listening, but got a phone call)?

I don't think he can tell them that, can he??

Fox saying the jury is having a tough time finding a unanimous decision!

I would've thought this a no-brainer.

I think it depends on which women. I know many law and order women who wouldn't blink an eye voting for the death penalty and I know emotional men who couldn't do it to save themselves.

I agree it is not an issue of women on the jury. Somehow an anti-death penalty liar sneaked in.

If this guy doesn't deserve death, nobody does.

I personally know several women who would not only favor the death penalty but would not be averse to administering it themselves.
