You don't understand what a destroyed city will mean to this [country], or mass casualties from a bio attack..

How did Japan survive the destruction of Hiroshima? Sure, they were an imperial society at the time, but they are a democracy now. The whole country didn't fall apart.

I know that it isn't a perfect comparison, given that we were at war and they were a defeated society, but their civil life didn't end because of the bomb.

Japan survived cause they surrendered.

We have that option I suppose.. But one thing is for sure, our current lifestyle will be over.

They also didn't have CNN, FNC, MSNBC, etc showing them live footage of the mushroom cloud over Hiroshima and the damage that was done.

And their whole country did fall apart. They were just lucky that we were the ones rebuilding it and not the Russians.

Gen. MacArthur ran the country. A defacto military government and imposed a constitution on Japan.

"How did Japan survive the destruction of Hiroshima?"

Technically, they didn't. Not with the form of government they had before the surrender. For the people of Japan that was actually an improvement.

For us, I doubt that it would turn out as well.

They had us .. the US .. to save them and bring them to sanity and new life and new order. Who's going to save us if US is disabled?
