Al Franken in 'Deep Level Talks' for Radio Show

In-house Democratic Party comic Al Franken says he is in "deep level" negotiations to host a show on a liberal talk radio network set to launch early next year.

The hot-tempered ex-SNL writer tells the Chicago Tribune that he's been meeting with former America Online executive Mark Walsh, who's taken over the project from Sheldon and Anita Drobny.

Hefty contributors to the Democratic Party, the Drobnys announced plans to bankroll a liberal answer to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly earlier this year.

The Chicago couple have sold the majority of their shares in the corporation they created to launch the project, AnShell Media, to Mr. Walsh.

Walsh formerly worked for the Democratic National Committee and currently serves as the party's chief technology advisor.

"These guys seem to be charging forward and making progress," Franken told the Tribune, saying negotiations to bring him on board had reached the "deep level" stage.

Though Franken is famous for his in-your-face verbal assaults - he used the "F"-word earlier this year to attack the Fox News Channel at a rally attended by an applauding Hillary Clinton - Walsh says that his network's political tilt will be primarily "centrist, with a hint of liberalism."

"We're excited about the opportunity," said the liberal media mogul, who finalized his deal with the Drobnys last week.

Some jokes don't even need a punchline.

Translation, we are not quite as bad as Stalin.

There already is a liberal radio network. Its called NPR. And it has no listeners. It would have even fewer if it had commercials.

The hot-tempered ex-SNL writer

As compared to the jovial, "half my brain tied behind my head" -- liberal spearing -- Rush Limbaugh.

Interested to see where the startup money or advertising is going to come from.

I bet it never goes beyond 'barter' trades.

Walsh is the CTO. The dweeb can't be serious. I bet Drobny's threw the anchor of a bad idea to the nearest geek with some internet dollars that weren't wasted the first time around.

I really, really hope they do this show. I'd love to see millions of liberals dollars going down a rat hole. Plus, put Franken on at the same time as Rush. When the ratings books come out we'll see then who really is the Big Fat Idiot.

I hadn't meant to make that connection but you've given me a visual image to ponder and enjoy for the rest of the workday. THANKS!

Thus goes the beauty of America!! Just goes to show you that a loudmaouth, lying, lardass can get his own network show and broadcast his inane stupidity at will for millions of listeners to listen...well, maybe...

Why would any liberal want to destroy the America of today is beyond me...

and so will his radio dial number...

I hope Franken gets his show. It would be hilarious to watch him crash and burn. In fact, it would be the first time he's ever made me laugh.

The hot-tempered ex-SNL writer

O.K. now I have my answer as to why SNL sucks. As far as his possible radio gig, it will be amusing and entertaining to watch this network fail.
