I just heard from my friend, whom I e-mailed concerning Terri and the bone scan. He is an Orthopedic Surgeon, Doctor of Osteopathy. He has been a doctor for about 20 years.

I asked him to look at the bone scan and give me his opinion at to the likely cause of the fractures (trauma v. osteoporosis).

Let me first clarify: Although he is aware of "Terri Schiavo," it is probably only through t.v. (and we know what coverage they have had). I do not believe he realizes that the length of time between Terri's initial admittance and the bone scan was only ONE YEAR. (So, I re-e-mailed him with that information and am, again, awaiting his "final opinion.")

With that clarification in mind, this is his initial response to my question as far as the cause of the fractures to Terri:

the terri schiavo case is a weird one. the bonescan sounds like trauma, but there's a remote possibility she has severe osteoporosis from being bed-ridden. they would need to do a bone density (dexa scan) to figure that out.

Sh didn't have to be bed-ridden. The money was there for re-hab. I'd love to see her well enough to sue everyone involved in squandering that money.
