Wow, he gave it all for the glory - The glory of winning a vodka drinking contest in southern Russia. Why aren't there more men like this in America?

Cigarettes don't normally act as a wick, usually it's something the cigarette falls upon that smoulders...like a nylon nightgown.

Yes, the person had to be unable to react to the burning.

The body burns inside out. Fat operates as tallow. It's not really "burning to death" it's more like "smouldering to death" When the smouldering breaches the skin from the inside, it's no longer hot enough to burn most things.

There is a commandment against drinking vodka?

Not that I am aware of...Maybe if you get drunk and you commit sin, but not just for over indulging in some stupid act!

I don't understand how a supposedly good God can allow things like this to happen to people.

He warns them.
He offers them an alternative.
But ultimately, do you suggest he force them to do something they do not want to do?

Assuming a weight of 175 lbs., this calculates to .80 BAC

If an angel smacked me on the nose with a newspaper, you'd better believe I'd change my ways!

Yeah, for a little while - but then, back to our old habits.
Even if a man actually rose from the dead, people would still refuse to believe.
That's the message of history.

"The competition lasted 30, perhaps 40 minutes and the winner downed three half-liter bottles.

I used to do business with a guy who used to drink nearly a half gallon of whiskey chased by 12-24 beers per day. He passed out in his backyard on a 15 degree night and died last year.

Its a shame, he always paid his bills, up front, had plenty of money.

I don't understand how a supposedly good God...

40 years ago I won two drinking contests within months in my 2nd year at UBC. At the Fraser Arms, I whiffed back 6 10 oz. glasses of beer in 15 seconds - won a sweatshirt(underage I was).

In a dorm room, I drank a 26-er(like a fifth) of Captain Morgan dark rum in 30 minutes. I won the most terrible hangover of my life. In retrospect, I realized what an idiot I had been to take such a risk.

God gave me the wisdom to see the error of my ways, and to stop crazy drinking, which I did.

I've never been drunk since. ;^)
