Well, IMO, the family, which is based on heterosexual marriage, is really the cornerstone of society, always has been, in any society. That is why heterosexual marriage has always, throughout the history of man, enjoyed a special status. Is this institution, this veritable cornerstone of society, so fragile that it cannot survive without governmental protection?
Get government out of the marriage business, before it is too late!

"Get government out of the marriage business, before it is too late!" Yes, I agree. I don't think this would be a problem if government wasn't already in the marriage business.

Same could be said for FREE SPEECH.
Guess you want to repeal the 1st amendment after you abolish marriage, eh?

Get government out of the marriage business, before it is too late! But see, it's bad to have government interfering in our lives, except when we're after a certain sort of social engineering. Then it's okay.
I don't even want the states involved in defining marriage; I mean really, think about the people in your state governments...do you really want THEM involved? They can't even figure out how to remove snow from the roads properly, let alone define or protect a social institution.
Snidely
