I feel much better about his chance to get well. He stood up like a man and took resposibility. He didn't mince words or get gory. He was grounded, blunt, and to the point. He will fall off his pink cloud pretty soon and then he will start to recover.
Also something to think about. The narcotic addicts mind makes every pain seem worse than it is while using. After he quits the brain takes a while to balance the chemicals out. Before it does everything DOES hurt worse than it is in reality for a normal person. It is not in their imagination, IT IS REAL. He will make it through it as long as he perseveres. He cannot do this on will alone. His will got him where he was and he said that. Good sign!
I can certainly attest to that. I have to manage pain med usage. Unfortunately, the doctors are not much help. I have managed to stay at the same dosage for a little over two years. The brain tries to fool you into thinking you need more. It is a constant battle to keep a small addiction from becoming a large problem.
So far, so good.
