Well, here's my report: I've got a pass into the Senate gallery and we're going to go tonight and see it first hand!! Cool, huh?

I'll see you there!

I got home from work late and had to feed the kids before I could bake the cookies that I'm bringing. They are cooling (the cookies are) right now, and then I'm off to the Hill. I should be leaving within the half-hour.

Sorry I missed you at the Senate. I did see LisaFab and Ed and sat next to them in the Senate Gallery for over an hour while Reid and Durbin whined about the email from FoxNews and the poll results on Frist's website.

I delivered a box of mini candy bars and Second Amendment pens which basil made and donated to help keep the Republican Senators and staff energized through the night. The staffers of the Republican Senatorial Committee delivered the box of goodies to the cloak room.

I also delivered two shopping bags of assorted buttons which the staffers (really nice young men) also delivered to the room being used for the different Coalition groups to meet. Groups of young men and women had arrived in a large number to take part in the Senate Marathon with a chance to meet Orrin Hatch afterwards. They were very excited and all picked out buttons to wear.

The buttons were also a hit with some from the press. Kristinn, tgslTakoma and I took some with us to the Mansfield Room (where the press conferences were scheduled to be held) and set them out on a table in the hallway outside the room. A number of members of the press took pictures as we laid the buttons out, took pictures of the buttons and spoke with us. One member of the press wrote down all the messages on the buttons. I believe USA Today online, Newsweek, one of the Chicago papers and AP were there.

Arlen Spectre came by while we were in the hallway outside the Mansfield Room.

The Mansfield Room was set up for a long night of hourly press conferences. Pro2AMom from Second Amendment Sisters was planning to stay alert all night for her 6:30 a.m. (I think that's right) press conference.

As I left at 11 p.m. Taxman was arriving to take my place.

If anyone plans to attend part of this historic Talkathon, go to the North entrance of the Capitol and tell the guards you plan to go to the Senate Gallery. You will have to go through security and then go to the appointments desk. Ask the person on duty for a Gallery pass. Then go to the third floor and follow directions to a check-in room where you will have to leave anything with a battery, which includes cell phones and key openers. You will receive a numbered plastic square to return when you redeem your property.

When you get into the Senate Gallery, you may not talk, lean forward or rise from your seat, take out pen or pencil or show any sign of approval like clapping. Nevertheless, it is exciting to be there and hear the debate and be in such a historical atmosphere.

Good luck to all those who plan to be there all night.
