I just got through to the dem cloakroom by using the Capitol switchboard number 1-800-648-3516 and asking to be connected. I asked the aide who answered to give a message to Barbara Boxer. Before I could tell him the message, he said 'how did you get this number, no, I'm not going to give anyone a message.' He did not even know who I was, so he must be feeling besieged and/or paranoid tonight. I started to say "Just tell Senator Boxer to vote against judge Kuhl if she feels it is the right thing to do," but before I could go on, he hung up on me. I have to say my 2 cloakroom calls tonight have been classic - polite cheerful Republican and rude unhelpful dem. This is good. They know that people are pi$$ed at them. If their reaction to you (and everyone else) is an indicator, we might see them go down in the biggest defeat ever.
Is there any way one of us can relay this story to a Senator on our side? Set up something like, "We have just heard that the phone operators in the democrat's cloakroom is hanging up on their constituents. Could you, Senator, please relay this interesting bit of news to the Senate floor?"
That would be sweet!
How do I get through to the cloakroom? They won't transfer me when I asked them.
