You think so? I think the pre-war planners didn't think of this angle, that Iran and Saudi would play its AQ cards in Iraq to suppress democracy and keep competitive Iraqi oil production down or off-line altogether.

It's a market share strategery in a cartel market. The young jihadis are pawns.

This is LOL funny! No, really... we here on Free Republic thought of this angle... the media harped on it ad naseum leading up to the war... yet, somehow, the people who's business is war never thought of this...

Strongly disagree.

There is no doubt in my mind that this was a.) anticipated, because they believed AQ really couldn't afford to let the Iraq "democracy demonstration project" succeed (or the Iraq oil counter-balance be under our control) and was b.) fervently hoped for. Better they face the 82nd, 101st, et al, than the NYPD.
